Fishing Charters on an Alaska Cruise
Alaska's waters produce world-record halibut, all five species of Pacific salmon, and lingcod that you can take home vacuum-sealed. A fishing charter is one of the few Alaska cruise excursions where you leave with something tangible — fresh wild Alaska seafood shipped to your door.
What You'll Catch
Halibut — available all season. Bottom fishing on the ocean floor for flatfish that can exceed 100 lbs. Consistent and beginner-friendly.
King Salmon — May through mid-July. The premier Alaska trophy fish. Trolling in deep channels. Harder to catch but incredibly rewarding.
Silver Salmon — late July through September. Aggressive fighters that hit hard and run fast. The most exciting catch for light-tackle anglers.
Ship vs. Processing
Most charter operators partner with a local fish processor who will fillet, vacuum-seal, flash-freeze, and ship your catch to your home address (processing and shipping typically costs $1–$3/lb additional). This is the only way to get your fish home — you can't bring fresh fish through airport security.
