Haines Excursions — Eagles, Bears & River Adventures
Haines is the hidden gem of Alaska cruising. Fewer ships stop here than Juneau or Ketchikan, which means smaller crowds and a more authentic small-town Alaska experience. The Chilkat Valley is home to the largest concentration of bald eagles in the world — up to 4,000 congregate here during the fall salmon run.
River rafting on the Chilkat River is the signature excursion, combining gentle Class I–II rapids with wildlife viewing (eagles, bears, moose). The Kroschel Wildlife Center offers close encounters with wolves, wolverines, and other Alaska predators in a rescue setting.
